5. YUGA, LIFE OF BRAHMA & VEDIC TIME SYSTEM

                                                                                        YUGA

YUGA in Hindu philosophy is named ‘ERA’ within a cycle of four ages. These are satya yuga, treta yug, Dwapar yug and kali yug. The detailed information about each ERA is as follows.

Bhagavatam 3.11.19 : The duration of these periods is given in terms of years of devas (inhabitants of higher planetary systems ). 1 year of devas = 360 years of human beings.

Duration are thus as follows:

1. Satya yuga = 4800 * 360 = 1,728,000 earth years

2. Treta yuga = 3600 * 360 = 1,296,000 earth years

3. Dvapara yuga = 2400 * 360 = 864,000 earth years

4. Kali yuga = 1200 * 360 = 432,000 earth years

Also, These yugs are in  4:3:2:1 ratio. So, if you divide all these years by 432000 (smallest Yug), you will have a ratio of 4:3:2:1 or 1:2:3:4

Kalyug ke finish hone se pehle Kalki avatar ka hona bataya gya hai. Kaliyug ke end hone ke baad dobara satyug start ho jayega. Aur ye cycle chalta rehta hai. Isliye kaha jata hai ke jab jab kaliyug me sansaar me buraai badhegi bhagwan avtaar lekar usko khatam karenge. Aur uske khatam hone ke baad phir sab log ache ho jayenge. This is all pre decided. Bhagwan ko sab pta hai kyoki yahi process har baar chalta rehta hai.

First King of Kaliyug in Chandravansh was Parikshit (son of Abhimanyu and Uttara) who ruled 60 years and took retirement at age 96 by giving the kingdom to his own son Janmejaya (who was 25 years young).

Parikshit died due to a snake bite (curse by a sage's son) . The name of that snake was Takshak. The name of that sage was Shrungi who cursed Parikshit by taking water from Kaushiki River. Parikshit knew that thing on the evening of that day and he took retirement before 7 days of his death. And he listened to Srimad Bhagavat Katha without Eating for 7 days by Sukadeva who is always of 16 years (constant).

Now, let's see why these names?

In the ancient time, in the game dyut (one type gamble in which dice is used), there used to be four points namely kruta, trata, dwapar, and kali. Out of which kruta used to be the most lucky and kali used to be the unluckiest. It is said that the first yug i.e. the satyayug is considered to be the ideal for the human being. There were no diseases, no sorrows, no pain. Everybody lived a long life. As mentioned above.

As mentioned above these yugs are in the proportion of 4:3:2:1 respectively. These numbers also mention the number of pillars of dharma(religion) on which these yugs are situated. And as the period progresses from one yug to another it loses one pillar of dharma. With each fall of the pillar, the sorrows, adharma, and disease will go on increasing.  So, kaliyuga is considered to be the most horrible and depressing yug.

LIFE OF BRAHMA

4 Yugas combined are called Devyug or maha-yuga or chaturyuga.

Puran has 3 concepts. Chaturyuga + Manvantara + Kalpa

Brahma ka ek din 2 kalpa se bana hai.

1 kalp (brahma din = 994 Chaturyuga) + 1 kalp (raat = 994 Chaturyuga) = 1988 Chaturyuga

2 kalp waise 2000 chaturgug ke hai, isme sabse pehle 6 chaturyug creation + phir 1988 Chaturyuga srishti chalti hai + phir ending ke 6 chaturyug pralay

So, 1988 Chaturyuga srishti + 12 chaturyuga evolution and pralay = 2000 chaturyuga matlab 2 kalpa brahma ka ek complete day.

Now, 1 kalpa ka breakdown…

4 yug milkar = 1 chaturyuga

71 chaturyuga ka = 1 manwantar

aur, 14 manwantar ka - 1 kalp

Matlab, 71 chaturyuga x 14 manwantar = (994 chatuyug) 1 Kalp half din

Same aise he more 994 chaturyuga = 1 kalp half raat

Approximately 4 arab saal ka 1 kalp hai. 2 kalp 8 arab saal ho gye.

Pehle wale (Day) kalp ke 4 arab saal me se 7 manwantar, yaani 1,96,08,20118 saal beet chuke, 2017 tak kalyug ko mila ke. First kalp ke 4 arab me se ab 2 crore abhi baaki hai. Uske baat 2nd kalpa (Night), then pralay. Then the second day of Brahma will start.

Kalyug was started in midnight of 17th February, 3102 bce (after the death of krishna by a hunter) Kalyug has already completed its 5,117 years and 5,118th year is running now since A.D. 2017.

Similarly, Brahma's life is considered to be of 100 years and it's believed that he has completed 50 years of his life. Now he entered into 51th year.

[Bhagavatam 9.3.30 - 32 narrates how one spaceman went to the highest planetary system due to an urgent situation in panic and stayed there for 20 minutes. When he returned to earth, 116,640,000 years had passed by on earth. He neither found his friends, relatives or sons, grandsons. He could not find a record of their family tree. Below is that complete story.

Kakudmi, king of Kusasthali, father of Revati (Balarama's wife). Kakudmi was descendant of the Sun Dynasty (suryavansha), a dynasty originating from Surya (the Hindu deity of the Sun). Surya's son was the deity Vaivasvata Manu. Vaivasvata Manu had one son named Ikshvaku who spread the Sun dynasty. Ikshvaku had one hundred sons of whom Vikuksi was the eldest. Vikuksi had many sons of whom S'aryâti was one. King S'aryâti had three sons, namely Uttânabarhi, Ânarta and Bhûrishena. Ânarta's eldest son was Revata. King Revata constructed the city of Kusasthali, and had one hundred sons of whom Kakudmi (also called Raivata, son of Revata) was the eldest. Now, he had a daughter named Revati.

Revati was so beautiful and so accomplished that when she reached at marriageable age, Kakudmi thought that no one on earth was worthy of her. Kakudmi seemed to have been endowed with mystic powers, not found in ordinary humans today. So he was able to take his daughter Revati with him and travelled to Brahma-Loka (the plane of existence where Brahma, the creator, resides) and to speak with Brahma at will, to seek his advice about a suitable husband for his daughter.

When he arrived, Brahma was listening to a musical performance by the Gandharvas, so they waited until the performance was finished. Then, Kakudmi bowed humbly, made his request and presented his shortlist of candidates. Brahma laughed loudly, and explained that time runs differently on different planes of existence, and that during the short time they had waited in Brahma-Loka  to see him, 27 Chatur-yugas {a cycle of four yugas, total 108 yugas (proximately 1 hour in Brahma-Loka) 994 yugas = 1 kalpa (12 hr.)} had been passed on earth. Brahma said to Kakudmi, "O King, all those whom you may have decided within the core of your heart to accept as your son-in-law have died in the course of time. Twenty-seven chatur-yugas have already passed. Those upon whom you may have already decided are now gone, and so are their sons, grandsons and other descendants. You cannot even hear about their names. You must therefore bestow this virgin gem (i.e. Revati) upon some other husband, for you are now alone, and your friends, your ministers, servants, wives, kinsmen, armies, and treasures, have long since been swept away by the hand of time.

King Kakudmi was astonished hearing this news. However, Brahma comforted him, and added that Vishnu, the preserver, was currently incarnate on earth in the forms of Krishna and Balarama, and he recommended Balarama as a worthy husband for Revati.

Kakudmi and Revati then returned to earth. They were shocked by the changes that had taken place. Not only had the landscape and environment changed, but over the intervening 27 chatur-yugas, in the cycles of human spiritual and cultural evolution, mankind was at a lower level of development than in their own time. The Bhagavata Purana describes that they found the race of men had become "smaller in height, reduced in strength or energy, and lower in intellect too.

Daughter and father found Balarama and proposed the marriage which was accepted.

This story is believed to be a possible indication of ancient Hindu knowledge of the phenomenon of time dilation. Time dilation explains why two working clocks will report different times after different accelerations. For example, time goes slower at the ISS (International Space Station), lagging approximately 0.01 seconds for every 12 Earths months passed. For GPS satellites to work, they must adjust for similar bending of spacetime to coordinate properly with systems on Earth.]

Now, we can understand that he lives in a very higher dimension / higher planetary system, a higher plane of existence. I always thought that if we look like what we look like now, then how those people from the upper dimension would look. Multi hands & multi heads and maybe something more, unimaginable.

On the above Brahma's life calculation, giving an example of what actually may be the truth as we saw in Antman movie that the character went into the molecular level. So understand this now. As Brahma is bigger than us, physically too maybe and also his plane of existence is higher. Now as Antman's character went into molecular level, is it possible that the people of Brahma’s plane or even Brahma himself, had a technology or maybe a way to visit into molecular level, which is us? Are we also some kind of a bacteria who were visited by some living beings from the higher plane of existence? Because, see, if I give you a distance and I ask you how much time it will take an ant and a human to cover that distance. Obviously, your answer will be that humans will cover it faster. Because, if an ant covers that space in 10 min, humans can cover that space in only 1 min. Same as when our 4 yugas (43 Lac years) pass 2000 times, Brahma’ only 1 day gets completed. Yes. Similarly, as there is size difference between human and an ant, the same case is with us (ant) and Brahma (human). And it may also be possible that Brahma’s visitation to us was just random, not planned I mean. He is bigger than us. As a bacteria is too small to humans, the same humans are too (small) to Brahma, because of his plane of existence. We cannot visit bacteria because we do not have that technology, but Brahma may have that technology, I believe. Just as bacteria would think about what a human looks like, or it may not even know that humans exist, and it cannot see humans in its life. Same as I said in the previous para, that I always wondered (as a bacteria), if there are bigger people than us (like human to a bacteria), what would they look like. Will we ever be able to see them? I think we have the answer now as we know that Brahma is said to have 3 heads and 4 hands. Maybe when you get on a higher plane, you will see people with different body types. We think we are perfect with our body and other beings or even bacterias look disgusting. Same is possible for people of higher planes, they also think that humans are disgusting. In short, I think Brahma or the people from the higher existence, had some way to visit us. Us, who are also living at the molecular level, we just never realized it yet because we have created an illusional world around us and we don’t want to see the actual truth.

PLANETARY SYSTEM

According to vedic cosmology, there are 14 planetary levels in our universe which in descending order are:

1. Satyaloka, 2. Tapaloka, 3. Janakloka, 4. Maharloka, 5. Svargaloka, 6. Bhuvarloka, 7. Bhurloka, 8. Atala,

9. Vitala, 10. Sutala, 11. Talatala, 12. Mahatala, 13. Rasatala, 14. Patala

Srimad Bhagavadam tells that the earth is located in the Bhurloka planetary level and in the Bhumandala planetary system. The Bhumandala planets are divided into 7 subdivisions. From a vast distance, the Bhumandala planetary system looks like a disk.

Below the 14 planetary levels , a planet called Pitriloka is located and below the Pitriloka planet is the Narakloka planetary system(hell) which has further 27 sub divisions containing hundreds of thousands of planets more. It is stated that the consciousness level of the souls that are sent to the Narakloka is shrinked to extreme low levels.

Bhagavadam allows us to calculate the exact age of the Sun and its life span. The sun manifested 155,521,960,853,098 years ago (taking 1990 as the present year) and will dissolve after 155,518,039,146,902 years from now.

During its lifespan, partial dissolutions take place periodically at which it cools down and its light diminishes. The last partial dissolution occurred 6,280,853,098 years ago and the next one will take place after 2,359,166,902 years from now.

VEDIC TIME SYSTEM

In Vedic Time System, kala (Time) is regarded as not a linear or single-directional movement, like an arrow speeding from past to future. The Hindu concept talks of Rhythm or universal order which is manifested as Time. Time Rhythm ranges from the fast ticking of the atom to the expansion of the entire cosmos — Time unfolding within the geological process of the Earth, the change of the season, the life cycle of a fly etc.

Kala (Time) itself is connected to Lord Siva in Indian Heritage. Siva is called Maha Kala — “the great Time”. His consort Kali personifies the energy of Time.

The Hindu kālagaņanā (chronology) does not depend on any mundane event like the birth of a person, coronation of a king or the military success of an emperor. But it depends only on the movements of various heavenly bodies in the cosmos, or in other words, on astronomical science. Judging from this viewpoint, the Indian chronology alone is scientific since all other current chronologies are based on mundane event like the birth of a person, or the victory of a race over the other, or the rule of a particular dynasty, or running away of a man from one city to another to save his life and so on.

But during the British colonial rule, the foreign rulers could have been successful to inculcate the idea that the entire concept of Hindu chronology is merely a mythological fiction without having any scientific basis. As a matter of fact, those foreign rulers framed the education system of Bharatvarsha (the Indian subcontinent) with the sinister view of turning the people away from their own heritage and culture and to make them respectful to whatever is Western (see Macaulayism). The most unfortunate part of the episode is that practically nothing has been done to counter this trend during the past fifty years after obtaining freedom. As a result, most of the people of this country do not even know how rich and ancient their own culture is and, on the contrary, have developed a mentality to slight whatever is Indian. As a burning example of this trend, we are blindly following the most unscientific Christian chronology and do not even care to know what the Hindu chronology is.

In the Vedas, Time is equated with the Kala (Consciousness Time) is the source of the divisions of time. It unites procession recession and stasis.

Time, according to Surya Siddhanta, has both its virtual and practical divisions; the former is called murta (embodied), the latter amurta (virtual or Unembodied). The Surya Siddhanta delineates that ‘what begins with prana (respiration) is called real; that what begins with truti (atoms) is called unreal.

[Surya Siddhanta: The Sūrya Siddhānta is a Sanskrit treatise in Indian astronomy in fourteen chapters. The Surya Siddhanta describes rules to calculate the motions of various planets and the moon relative to various constellations, and calculates the orbits of various astronomical bodies.]

Various fragments of time are described in the Vedas, Bhagavata Purana, Vishnu Purana, Mahabharata, Surya Siddhanta etc

Units According to Sūrya Siddhānta

[µs = Microsecond, ms = Milliseconds, S = Seconds, ks = Kiloseconds]

Unit     Definition Relation to SI units

Truti     Base unit ≈ 29.6 µs

Tatpara     100 Truti ≈ 2.96 ms

Nimesha     30 Tatpara ≈ 88.9 ms

Kāṣṭhā                18 Nimesha ≈ 1.6 s

Kalā     30 Kāṣṭhā ≈ 48 s

Ghatika     30 Kalā ≈ 1.44 ks

Muhūrta     2 Ghatika ≈ 2.88 ks

Ahorātram

(sidereal day)     30 Muhūrta ≈ 86.4 ks

Units According to Vedas

Truti is referred to as a quarter of the time of falling of an eyelid.

A Māsa or lunar month (30 days) is divided into 2 Pakṣas: the one between new moon and full moon (waxing) is called gaura or (bright) or Śukla Pakṣa; the one between full moon and new moon (waning) Kṛiṣhṇa (dark) paksha.

A Ṛitu (or season) is 2 Māsa.

An Ayana is 3 Ṛitus.

A year is two Ayanas.

The below table contains calculations of cosmic units of time and the time dilation experienced by different entities, namely Humans, Pitris (forefathers), Devas (gods), Manu (progenitor of humanity), and Brahma (creator god).

YUGA AVATAR

The Puranas describe Vishnu avatars that come during specific yugas, but may not occur in every Yuga Cycle.

Rama appears at the end of Treta Yuga. According to Vayu Purana and Matsya Purana, Rama appeared in the 24th Yuga Cycle. According to the Padma Purana, Rama also appeared in the 27th Yuga Cycle of the 6th Manvantara.

Krishna's departure marked the end of Dvapara Yuga and the start of Kali Yuga according to Puranic sources. In the 28th Yuga Cycle, Krishna appeared as His original self, which only happens once in a Kalpa (day of Brahma).

Satyuga = Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha

Treta = Vamana, Parashurama, Rama

Dvapara = Krishna

Kaliyuga = Buddha, Kalki

DIMENSIONS

REFERENCE - ANSWERS ON QUORA

FIRST ANSWER

During their research work some of the scientists have been attracted to the 'Vedic sankhya' (analytical study of matter and atomic theory) and found things which were very similar to the Quantum Mechanics Theory ( behavior of matter eg. light on atomic and subatomic level).

Quantum Mechanic's Theory is the theory of many dimensions.

Following is the example from vedas:

Banasura used 1,000 arms to work 500 bows and shoot 2,000 arrows at a time at Krishna. In this case, we are dealing with a materially embodied being living on the earth. One might wonder how 500 material arms could be mounted on one shoulder without interfering with one another. Moreover, if this is possible, how could they aim 500 bows in the same direction at once? Did the bows pass through each other?

This phenomena happening in one place was possible because of Banasura's body existed in the higher dimensional space. Descriptions of this kind requires higher dimensional conceptions of space.

SECOND ANSWER

Human being can see only 2 dimensions perfectly . we cannot ever see 3D object at the same time, like if we see cube from one side we will think it is a square but as we can see 3D objects also we can figure it out as a cube so yes Human being can see 3D Objects.

4th Dimension is as written in many places and claimed as time. so we add space with time called SpaceTime it is 4D. Its mean that in all space from a particular point to another point there is a difference in time so if we can see 2 completely places at the same time we are seeing it for 4D and nowadays it is happening. Nowadays we are living in world where we can see world in 4D context. Yes if you are watching a live show or match on TV then both place are far apart but you are watching both places at the same time. So time difference is nowadays covered.

5D as showed in Movie Interstallar it may be gravity or relation of SPACETIME(4D) with SPEED(5D) as at what speed you covered given space in given amount of time.

THIRD ANSWER

As per Vedagamas, Cosmos is based on 11 dimensional multiverse. There is no Parallelity but multidimensionality exists and each higher dimension flows into lower dimension hence making things more interesting. Paramashiva adobe is said to be at highest dimension number 11, where as we the people of Earth (Bhumadevi) are in-fact living in 5 dimensional.

Reality consists of eleven dimensions

We think we live in a world of the three dimensions in space. However, there are actually eleven dimensions. The fundamental dimensions as we perceive are length, breadth, depth, time and consciousness/space. The higher dimensions are combinations of these fundamental dimensions.

or example, a stick has length, breadth and depth. It is in time and space. Now, if we keep length and breadth and just remove the depth, the stick will be seen, but the hand will pass through the stick. You can also keep the depth and remove the length and breadth. Then nothing will be seen, but the hand will hit something if you try to pass it through.

In this way, there are various combinations leading to the eleven dimensions that make up the universe. When you are in a plane above the four dimensional space- time you can currently perceive, you can see these eleven dimensions, you can see Reality as enlightened beings can.

Adding time and space and combining these 5 basic unit dimensions with each other leads to 11 dimensions of the Universe. The following are the various combinations:

Length and breadth combined with time.

Length and breadth combined with space.

Breadth and depth combined with time.

Breadth and depth combined with space.

Length and depth combined with time and length

Depth combined with space.

That truth and the powers which come with that are already tested and proven by the Balasanths, which are the children in my Nithyananda Gurukul. The Gurukul is the traditional Vedic school system, revived by me. The Balasanths are expressing different powers only by understanding and knowing these truths. So can you. I initiated my disciples who came to Sadashivoham into all 11 dimensions. Preparation included pure Satvik vegetarian food, Nithyananda Yoga, and the alchemy products which the participants received. I can say, the initiation has been successful. The Balasanths and Sadashivoham participants express powers of length, breadth and depth dimensions.

Length Dimension

The length dimension is connected to logic. The power expresses by being able to answer questions about length and logic. The initiates are able to manifest powers of solving Math problems like extracting the root of high numbers in very short time. They are able to answer questions like the distance between Moon and Earth within seconds. They also answer questions about height of statues and buildings. They tell distances between places and length of roads or rivers, even of places they have never heard of.

Breadth Dimension

The breadth dimension is connected to creativity and visualisation. It is all about the emotion which comes up with poetry, art and music. I initiated the Balasants into breadth dimension. And now the Balasanths sing songs they never heard before. They draw pictures of famous art they have never seen before. They even draw pictures of obscure art that has never been shown in the gallery, just by hearing the name of the artist

Depth Dimension

After length and breadth dimension, I initiated them into depth dimension. This is the dimension in which you can express powers like Materialization, Teleportation and Telekinesis. The initiation also awakens the ability to read the Akashic records. Depth dimension is experienced through Entanglement, experiencing Oneness.

For eg, The Balasanths express Telekinesis by sitting and connecting with a coconut. Just through the power of will, either by staring, eye-movement, or waving their hands very casually, they direct its movement. They are able to make it roll, stand up straight and crack it open.

WHY PEOPLE BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY ACCORDING TO THESE YUGAS?

Aisa kaha hai ke satyug me log bahut khush they, no sorrow, no disease, no pain just happiness. Aur jaise jaise next yug aata hai log bhi uske according change hote jate hai, disease badhte hai, problems badhti hai.

We need to understand why particular Yuga starts to determine when will that yuga end. There are different mythological explanations available to explain these things but there are also scientific reasons to explain how Yuga starts and why do humans behave in that particular way in that particular Yuga. See its like asking question ,when will winter end? If we understand why winter start we can easily figure out when will it end. Animals, plants behaves differently in different seasons isn’t? People find it quite difficult to wake up early in winter mornings, many plants stars shading their leaves in autumn, these variation in behavior is similar to variation of human behavior & capabilities in different Yugas.

Now lets start this explanation with one simple question, why does winter/summer starts?

the answer is very simple as we all know its due to orbital position of earth while rotating around sun. Our earth rotates around sun in elliptical orbit due to which there are different distances of earth from sun during different periods of time. And this angle and distance of earth with the sun decides how much heat we are gonna feel hear on earth. And that is why summer time feels longer than winters.

Now lets go ahead, now I’m going to tell you one more fact which many folks don’t know. Like our earth rotates around the sun, exactly in similar way our sun rotates around another sun called Super Sun. Yes, you read it right, sun rotates around another Super Sun! Now one more revelation, not only sun but the whole solar system rotates around Super Sun including all planets and of course earth.

See above image, that brighter bigger yellow circle is Super Sun and smaller yellow circle is our solar system. From the effects upon the planet, we believe this big star or Super Sun that our system is going around is not located in the center of the orbit but somewhere to the side. Whenever our solar system comes closer to this big system, all the creatures living in our system rise to greater possibilities. Whenever our system moves away from it, the creatures living in our system come to the lowest level of possibility – we say this is Kali Yuga.

When our solar system is closer to the “Super Sun,” Satya Yuga will begin. The human mind will be at its highest capability. People’s ability to know life, people’s ability to communicate, people’s ability to live joyfully will be at its highest. Or in other words, we will have sensible people.

Kali Yuga - Man is limited by the gross material world. Man can comprehend nothing beyond the visible material world. So a man in kali yug can not even think about internet or computer or any such thing.

Dwapar Yuga - Consciousness of man is half developed. Man can now understand the fine matter (sub atomic particles and particles even smaller than that) that makes the physical world. This is the age of energy. And as you can see, all our current inventions are based on our knowledge of atom and electron ( electronics). And this is the evidence that we live in Dwapar Yuga.

Treta Yuga - Human begins to understand divine magnetism. ( Now the problem is, we don’t know what exactly this means. Yukteshwar Giri has also said that it is impossible to explain about divine magnetism to a man of dwapar yuga, as our intelligence is not developed yet. Just like it is impossible to explain internet to a cave man of kali yug). Next treta will start in 4099 AD.

Satya Yug - Man can now comprehend all, even god the spirit.
